Education Division Faculty Meeting
On Tuesday, September 26 our faculty meeting was dedicated to professional development. Dr. Susan Hladky presented some procedures that should be followed when using the Chromebooks and cart and shared how she has used them in her classroom. Dr. Diana Dell, Director of the MET Program, taught us about Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google Forms and engaged all of us to experiment with each of these formats. We will be utilizing Google in upcoming faculty meetings and our goal is to become totally paperless. Thank you to these two ladies that graciously shared their knowledge and love for learning with us.

Music Education
Jordan Cox submitted the following:
On Wednesday, September 20, Dr. Carol McDowell presented a workshop to our music students. She took volunteers to demonstrate a mock lesson for an elementary music classroom highlighting great instructional strategies, tools for assessment, and transition activities. She also spoke about classroom management strategies and ideas about purchasing and maintaining quality instructional resources like Orr and percussion instruments. The students loved it! We are hoping to have her back to do a workshop on modifying and adapting instruments for adaptive music classrooms and students with special needs.

Closing Thoughts
"Leadership is not about titles, positions or flowcharts. It is about one life influencing another." John Maxwell
"Do right. Do your best. Treat others as you want to be treated." Lou Holz
"Reach for heaven and you will get earth." C.S. Lewis
"A leader who produces other leaders multiplies the influence." John Maxwell

Your lead team members, Shelton, Alicia, Clint, Susan, Tammy, Nancy, and I met this week and discussed inspirational leadership quotes like those listed above and discussed ways in which we could apply these principles to the programs and the people we lead.

I challenge you this weekend to consider how you lead your students. You have such power to influence students, positively or negatively. Treat your students as you would want to be treated. Let your students see you reaching for heaven. And begin producing leaders in the field of education and your influence will be multiplied.
