Inauguration Day - October 19, 2018 What a wonderful day of celebration last Friday as we inaugurated Dr. Ross. For those of you who were not able to attend, there was a buzz on this campus like I have never experienced. Rubrics I need to stress to all instructors that you need to use rubrics when grading assignments and projects that are subjective in nature. Students deserve to know how and why they missed points on an assignment. Your master syllabi should have rubrics included; if not, please let the lead teacher know. Inauguration Day Next week's blog will contain pictures and highlights from today's momentous Inauguration of our 7th president, Dr. Keith Ross. It was truly a blessing to be a part of this very special occasion. We look forward to Dr. Ross's leadership. Faculty & Staff In-Service Day Wednesday, October 10 was the faculty and staff in-service day. We all gathered for breakfast, a devotion, and message from President Ross and then had a choice of several workshops. Debbie Dumey gave the devotion on suffering and how Christ is always with us and helping us through trials. She was very open about dealing with the death of her daughter Erica. Jordan Cox presented Spirituality in Education: Developing Connection based on his doctoral dissertation research. This session examined spirituality in the context of education, ways to cultivate a spiritual atmosphere, and the implications for a Christian University. Fall Speaker Series Dr. Marcus Goodloe was the speaker for the Fall Speaker Series on Tuesday, October 2. He is a great inspirational speaker and spoke about H.A.B.I.T.S.  H = Have Fun; A = Assume the Best of Others; B = Be Good Soil; I = Insist on Excellence; T = Treat the Needs of Others as Sacred; S = Seek Community. On Wednesday, October 3, Dr. Goodloe spoke about how God speaks to us. We need to be open and ready to hear. Education Organization Meeting A Teach On Meet & Greet was held on Monday, October 1 at 12:30 pm at the Perk with a complimentary lunch from Chick-Fil-A. Dr. Susan Hladky and Dr. Bridgett Niedringhaus had information for students on ASCD, MSTA, and Kappa Delta Pi.
