Friday Memo: September 22, 2017

The Greatest Team on Earth!
These people are the most amazing, hard-working, student-centered people I know! If you look closely you will notice Flat Christine and Flat Melanie. Thanks, Nancy, for making sure we made it in the picture.

Women in Leadership Networking & Breakfast
Students Ashley Bachman and Madeline Smith, in addition to faculty members Tammy Cox and Mary Ann Bouas were in attendance. Tammy Cox was motivated by the following quote and was reminded that mentoring is important - "Never fail to Be mentored - Never fail TO mentor."

Social Media Meeting
Ricki Roth, Nancy Sickler, Coral Christopher and others from the Communications Department met this week to discuss increasing our presence on social media. Ricki Roth will be monitoring our new Education Instagram account. Be on the lookout for more information on how to follow our new presence on Instagram. We have adequate presence on Facebook, but this generation of students is using Instagram so we need to meet students where they hang out digitally.

Google PD
I cannot wait for next Tuesday! Dr. Diana Dell, Director of the MET program, will be presenting with Susan Hladky. You will learn about Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google Forms. This will be an interactive session where we will utilize the Chromebooks. Prior to our meeting you need to establish a google account and send Nancy the email associated with your google account. Dr. Dell has asked that each of you come to the meeting Tuesday morning with a link to a youtube video that you would like to embed in one of your courses. She has also requested that you also come with 3 questions for your students related to the youtube video.

CAEP Update
David Collum, Alicia Noddings, and I continue meeting to discuss our upcoming CAEP visit in February. Last night we received information from CAEP regarding our site team. We are excited to begin making preparations for these 7 visitors to visit our campus.

Upcoming Meetings
Tuesday, 9/26     Education Division Professional Development Meeting
Wednesday, 9/27     Health & Wellness Fair

Closing Thoughts
As I was walking across campus this afternoon I was reminded of the beauty of our campus. I am grateful for our grounds crew and the people who work hard to keep our campus beautiful. The quotes, messages, and scripture verses on the windows around campus are such an inspiration. May we all remember that we have opportunities to Be A Light to our students every day! What a blessing to work at a place that encourages us to be light.
