Clinical Supervision I would like to strongly encourage all of you who are supervising undergraduate or graduate students in clinical school settings to please assign them the grade they deserve. Be very intentional and thorough throughout the semester as you complete rubrics during your observations. Provide the students with very thorough feedback about their strengths and their weaknesses. For the most part our students do a fantastic job during their capstone field experience (student teaching, counseling internship, culminating practicum, capstone field experience, etc.) However, I am currently dealing with a situation in which we have a student teacher who is not prepared to be in a student teaching setting. Erica Bumpers, Angela McGowan, and I are working closely with him and his cooperating teacher to determine our next best steps. It is critical that we not give students a false sense of hope during their field experience prior to their final clinical experience. Profession

Kristie Breeding's Announcement Words cannot express how grateful I am that I have been able to work with Kristie Breeding, Administrative Assistant to the Dean, over the last 2 years. Kristie has been so incredibly helpful to me and her presence in our office will be greatly missed. We wish her well and hope she comes back to visit us! Kristie Breeding - We will miss you! CAEP Conference David Collum and I were invited to Washington D.C. to discuss our simSchool research with the CAEP's research team, Jennifer Carinci and Claire Jacobson. We spent about 2 hours talking about how our research can not only help our division as we are strive for continual improvement, but they strongly encouraged us to submit a proposal to present at the spring CAEP conference so we can share our findings with other Educator Preparation Programs. Jennifer and Claire believe that our work can be beneficial to other EPPs. And make sure you ask David about his first book signing!

2015/2016 Education Division Faculty & Staff Although it was a short week, it was a busy and productive week. Read below for some activity in the Education Division this past week. Division Faculty Meeting The highlight of the meeting for me was to watch as our division faculty members worked together analyzing our strategic plan from 2014-2015 to discuss our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and the status of our short-term, and long-term goals. Alicia Noddings and I will use this feedback as we create the strategic plan for 2015-2016. simSchool/CAEP Update David Collum and I will be attending the CAEP conference in Washington D.C. next Thursday and Friday. CAEP leadership has requested a meeting with me and David to review our research regarding the use of simSchool in teacher preparation programs. We are looking forward to our conversation with them to review our findings and to share our continued phases of research. St. Charles Community College Child

CEEDAR One of the major components of the CEEDAR initiative is to make sure that we are producing educators and leaders who know how to differentiate instruction and utilize MTSS - Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, including academic and behavioral support through RTI and PBIS. We will be working together to ensure we are teaching our teacher candidates how to implement these strategies when they get into the classroom and our leader candidates how to facilitate these strategies in their buildings.
