Tuesday, November 27, 2018 A School of Education Professional Development meeting was held and Shenekia Weeks from EdPlus presented Trauma Informed Primer, Part 1. All faculty and some adjuncts attended for a very informative session. We are looking forward to Part 2 on January 22. Great News! MACCE Meeting Jan Speck attended the Missouri Advisory Council of Certification for Educators (MACCE) meeting on December 3 in Jefferson City. Today's blog is dedicated to my friend, Shelton Smith. If you would like, feel free to add thoughts and memories of Shelton in the comment section below.  In Memory of Dr. Shelton Smith Dr. Shelton Smith lost his battle with cancer on Thursday, December 13, 2018. February 24, 1945 - December 13, 2018  Glenda & Shelton Shelton's family Shelton with his daughters, Heather & Erika, on Father's Day You couldn't talk to Shelton for very long without him talking about his family. You would hear about his lovely wife Glenda; his two daughters, Erika and Heather and their husbands; and all of his grandchildren. He was very proud of all of them and was always ready to show you pictures and tell you stories. Shelton earned his Bachelor's in Education in 1967, Master's in Education in 1972, and his Ed.S. in District Administration in 1974 from Southeast Missouri State. He earned his Doctor of Education in 2006 from Southern Illinois Unive

CAEP Accredited!!!! Congratulations to all of you for the part you played in our CAEP accreditation. A special shout out to Alicia and David for their hours of work to get us to this wonderful conclusion! Although we are accredited through 2025, we will continue to pursue excellence and continuous improvement. Directors' Meeting A Directors' meeting was held on Tuesday, October 30. We reviewed student evaluation comments, the DESE 1st Year Teacher, Principal, Counselor surveys, graduate enrollment data, and graduate exit surveys. We discussed curriculum and instruction, rubrics, admissions, and advising. It was a full agenda and we accomplished a lot. MBU Alumni First Year Experience A panel discussion by four of our first year teachers from various grade levels and content areas was held on Tuesday, October 30 for all of our future teachers. The panel was very informative and helpful to those that attended. This event was hosted by the MBU School of Education Student Organizations, which is comprised of MSTA, ASCD, and Kappa Delta Pi.
