Education Faculty Meeting
Tuesday, February 28 was our Education Faculty Meeting and we enjoyed discussing each other's spiritual gifts. We discussed how we use our spiritual gifts in our personal lives and in the workplace.Then the counseling faculty had a meeting while the teacher/leader faculty heard a great presentation from Greg Lawrence, Director of Technology in the Wentzville School District. See below.








Professional Development Session
After the faculty meeting, the teacher/leader faculty went to the computer lab and Greg Lawrence, Wentzville School District's Director of Technology and one of our adjuncts, spoke to the group about Google and using different programs with students.  Greg shared with the faculty important information about the SAMR model and the importance of utilizing the web when preparing teachers and leader




Faith in Action
Tom Smith is raising funds for seven students going on a mission trip to Guatemala by allowing a chocolate silk pie to be smashed in his face on Thursday after chapel. Dr. Bradford did a good job and Tom is a good sport and always willing to do just about anything for students.

Troy/Wentzville Regional Learning Center
The Troy/Wentzville Regional Learning Center held their Spring meeting on Thursday evening.

Michael Broombaugh's Science Class
One of Michael's assignments is to build a bridge and test how much it will hold. There is a lot of laughter and loud noises coming out of his classroom on this day.  One student really got into it by sitting on top. That is one strong popsicle stick bridge!

Tower Grove Christian Academy
I visited the Tower Grove Christian Academy on Thursday.  Mike Gregory is the Head of School and also one of MBU's Trustees.  I had a great time touring their school and look forward to partnering with them to provide professional development opportunities for their staff and offer an excellent school where our students can complete field experiences and student teaching.

Dr. Engelhardt's Class
EDUC 303 students demonstrating the presentation/lecture instrucational strategy. It's always great to see how our students doing, rather than watching us. Way to go, Dr. E, getting your students in front of the class presenting!

Closing Thoughts
What a joy it was to learn more this week about your spiritual gifts. I wish we had more time during our faculty meeting to share with each other about those gifts. I also wish our adjuncts could have joined us. Unity is important for our division to be all that God wants us to be. Learning more about each other and how God has wired us is important as we work together to fulfill God's design for our work with our students here at MBU.     Whoops, I didn't send my spiritual gift top 5. They are: Exhortation, Healing, Teaching, Helps, Discernment. Never thought I'd utter these words, "I miss the faculty meetings".

Veteran's Day We owe a debt of gratitude to all former and current military men and women for their service to our country. Please take a few minutes and read the Missing Man Table note that is placed on a table in the dining hall. This note brought some of us to tears as we reflected on those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. If you are on campus, I encourage you to stop in the dining hall to see the display. Tribute to Shelton Smith

Today's blog is dedicated to my friend, Shelton Smith. If you would like, feel free to add thoughts and memories of Shelton in the comment section below.  In Memory of Dr. Shelton Smith Dr. Shelton Smith lost his battle with cancer on Thursday, December 13, 2018. February 24, 1945 - December 13, 2018  Glenda & Shelton Shelton's family Shelton with his daughters, Heather & Erika, on Father's Day You couldn't talk to Shelton for very long without him talking about his family. You would hear about his lovely wife Glenda; his two daughters, Erika and Heather and their husbands; and all of his grandchildren. He was very proud of all of them and was always ready to show you pictures and tell you stories. Shelton earned his Bachelor's in Education in 1967, Master's in Education in 1972, and his Ed.S. in District Administration in 1974 from Southeast Missouri State. Friday Memo 9/30/16

Ron Brandly This week we celebrated the life of Ron Brandly and mourn his death from this earth, but we rest assured that he is teaching and talking and loving people in heaven. Ron was one of the most joyful and kind men I have ever met. He truly loved working at Missouri Baptist University and working with doctoral students. At his funeral there were several references made about Missouri Baptist University and his love of working with the people at MBU. At the luncheon that followed the funeral, Shelton Smith had the opportunity to share of Ron's service to teaching and serving on dissertation committees. A couple of our doctoral graduates, Elaine Henderson and Todd Culbertson, were there to attest to his caring attitude. We are grateful for his service and will miss him dearly!
