Missouri Prep Educator's Annual Performance Report
Wednesday's St. Louis Post Dispatch  included an article about the public release of the APR data. Our program had the third highest number of candidates in the state represented in the APR (some of our programs are not represented in the APR due to low enrollment,) and we had 75% of our 16 reported programs in Tier 1 out of four tiers. . The other 25% of our programs were in Tier 2. I am so thankful to all of you for your efforts over the last few years to make sure we were one of the first institutions to update our curriculum to meet the new certification requirements. We will continue to do all we can to ensure our students are successful on state assessments and rate our programs highly on the first year teacher surveys. Come by my office or check out the bulletin board to read the full article.

SMSTA Day at the Capitol
Ricki Roth took some students to Jefferson City on Wednesday. What a wonderful opportunity for our students to understand their professional role and responsibility within the larger group of educational professionals and how politics play a role in our work.

Mark Engelhardt was in Jefferson City and met with the Commissioner of Education, Dr. Margie Vandeven.

SimSchool
David Collum attended the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education Conference in Austin, Texas earlier this week. David had the wonderful opportunity to meet up with the founder of SimSchool, Dr. Gibson. David gave two presentations and facilitated a roundtable discussion. More universities are interested in joining our multi-university research study. Congratulations, David!

Alicia Noddings visits D.C.
Alicia traveled to Washington D.C. with other area Early Childhood faculty members and advocates. While there, Alicia had the opportunity to speak with national politicians and their staff members.

First CACREP livetreamed class
Clint Limoges and Tyler Pitts were working hard to ensure we were ready for our first livestream CACREP course. The livestreaming worked well for most students (we are still working out a few issues.) A big shout out to Clint for jumping off the diving board into this uncharted territory, and thanks to our IT department for helping us get everything ready.

Administration Advisory Meeting
Shelton Smith organized an advisory meeting with local superintendents and school leaders to review the curriculum and program requirements for our MEA and ED.S. Superintendent programs. We had a great time collaborating and discussing the pressing issues in the field and how our programs need to reflect those issues and the changes in state requirements.

Upcoming Meetings
Spring Break: March 13 - 17  Enjoy!
Next Faculty Meeting: Tuesday, March 21 at 10:15 a.m. in FLD 115 - Make sure you mark this on your calendar. Due to spring break and MACTE, this will be the only faculty meeting in March.
CAEP Conference: March 22-24 in St. Louis
MACTE Conference: March 26-29 in Columbia

Closing Thoughts
REST! Please take the next few days to rest and relax (except for David and Alicia who will be working diligently on our CAEP self-study - sorry!)
Take some time for yourself, because the last 6 weeks of school will feel like a mad sprint. Before we know it we will be listening to the bagpipes at graduation.
