CAEP Update
Our upcoming CAEP accreditation visit is approaching quickly. The eight-member team (5 out-of-state, 3 in-state) will be on campus Sunday, February 25th - Tuesday, February 27th. We have been collecting additional documents requested which are due by February 2nd. One of the items requested is in reference to our previous accreditation visit and the Areas for Improvement noted by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Full-time and adjunct faculty members, please provide your input which will help me as I compile the information for our addendum by completing this ten-question survey.
EdPlus Professional Development Series
The first PD meeting from EdPlus will be Tuesday, January 23 from 11 - 11:55 a.m. in the Performance Hall. This session is called "Making Learning Visible". For the last decade, John Hattie’s research has informed the work of educators in using evidence-based teaching and learning practices to produce positive, sustained results for every student. This kick-off session provides an overview for understanding the various influences on student learning. Full-time teacher education faculty are expected to attend. Adjunct are welcome to join us - please rsvp to Nancy.
Outstanding Student Achievement Awards
Be on the lookout for an email asking for nominations for the OSA awards. We need your assistance selecting students who will be recognized for their excellence in the classroom.

Closing Thoughts
This powerful quote from Martin Luther King, Jr. is located on the doorway to the Field Building. As we celebrated the life of one of America's greatest leaders this week, I pray that we continue to be inspired and moved to act upon MLK's words of wisdom. "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." These profound words are in direct alignment with MBU's tag line "Shine On" and in direct alignment with the following scriptures.
John 1:5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
Matthew 5:16 Let your light shine before men in such away that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who said, "Light shall shine out darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
Keep Shining On, Spartans! Shine in your classroom, shine in your household, shine in your church. Show the world that the Light of Christ pierces the darkness.
