Classroom Visits
I am interested in visiting your classroom! I might just pop in sometime in the next month so please don't be alarmed by my presence. I simply want to get a glimpse of the great things happening in our classrooms. I had the wonderful opportunity to sit in on Susan Hladky's ECTA 323 Curriculum, Assessment, and Data-Based Decision Making class this morning. She had a 4th grade teacher from Valley Park share with the students about analyzing assessment through data teams,

Teacher Education Council Meeting

Monday's TEC meeting was beneficial as we had the opportunity to hear from our local school districts. I shared our APR results, accreditation updates, a comparison of our first year teacher/principal survey data results compared to the state, and then they shared regional hiring needs.

First Year Teacher/Principal Surveys
We will be reviewing this data at our faculty meeting on Tuesday. I look forward to sharing you the MBU/State comparison data. We will discuss these findings and determine if program changes need to be made.

Outstanding Students of Achievement
What a wonderful night celebrating our outstanding students! I encourage you all to come next year if you are available. You will not be sorry.

Certification Celebration
Main Campus, Troy/Wentzville, and Mineral Area had Certification Celebrations this week. Main campus had a powerful celebration as we listened to student teachers share their journeys with us!
I was incredibly moved and emotionally exhausted after the celebration because I was overwhelmed with our power in our students' lives. My student teacher, John Bobeen, shared that he was ready to quit just before student teaching, but because of our encouragement he didn't quit. Then he emphatically spoke about how he is called to be a teacher and he loves teaching. He encouraged the younger students to keep working hard, not quit, and remember that they are called to serve the students. What we do matters!!!!

Counselor Education Update
The new brochures have arrived. Thanks for your collective efforts updating the brochures to reflect our new programs. The new brochures are in Clint's office.

Closing Thoughts
In Max Lucado's Grace for the Moment book he shares the following thoughts about discipleship. Read and ponder how you have been blessed by someone who has helped you and then remember that we serve as disciples every day in our classrooms and in our interactions with our students.

"Watch a small boy follow his dad through the snow. He stretches to step where his dad stepped. Not an easy task. His small legs extend as far as they can so his feet can fall in his father's prints. The father, seeing what the son is doing, smiles and begins taking shorter steps, so the son can follow. It's a picture of discipleship. In our faith we follow in someone's steps. A parent, a teacher, a hero - none of us are the first to walk the trail. All of us have someone we follow. In our faith we leave footprints to guide others. A child, a friend, a recent convert. None should be left to walk the trail alone. It's the principle of discipleship."
