Education Division Christmas Party
A good time was had by all at our Education Division Christmas party on Saturday, December 3.  We talked, ate, sang, ate, laughed, ate; basically, had lots of fun!  The ugly sweater contest first prize winner was Laura Rauscher's husband, Darrin and second prize went to Shelton Smith.  Jordan Cox and Alicia Noddings were gracious enough to share their amazing talent by playing the piano for us. It was perfect weather for sitting around the fire pit, if you wanted to wander outside.  Thanks to all who made the night a fun success!

Reception at the Perk
Mark Engelhardt and Kathleen Wendt attended the reception that was held in the Perk after the tree lighting ceremony. Here are a few fun pics:

Kendall Cox Speaks to the Arnold Rotary Club
Kendall Cox, daughter of Tammy, spoke to the Arnold Rotary about her upcoming trip to Germany and her participation in the Winter Intensive Training Camp in Florida. She will train with national and international and dressage trainers and olympians as well.  She is one of twelve in the nation to attend this camp.   Jim Chellew introduced Kendall. Pictured above are Fox School District Superintendent Dr. Wipke, Kendall, and Jim Chellew.

Class Portrait
The picture below was taken of Dr. Engelhardt's class and will be given to them as a memento. I think this was Dr. E's Methods class.

Classroom Fun
Michael Broombaugh's students in his Integrating Math Concepts class were having fun on Wednesday using Kahoot.  It's a great tool to use in your classroom.  Michael always makes learning fun!

Students Attend the MSTA Conference
The SMSTA group from Troy/Wentzville sent some students to the MSTA conference. What a great opportunity for future educators to participate in an outstanding conference and grow professionally. Pictured below are Bethany Weldon, Jamie O'Coin, Emily Woodal (former MBU student), Dr. Engelhardt (chapter advisor), and Lisa Cooper.

STL READ60
An informational meeting was held on Thursday at The Perk to enlist volunteers to read to students at the Ferguson-Florissant School District.  MBU has partnered with Ferguson-Florissant and The Crossing Church to be part of this phenomenal program in which community members volunteer 60 minutes a week to read to or listen to a child read. Anthony Meyers from The Crossing and Kevin Hampton from the Ferguson-Florissant School District spoke to the crowd about how to sign up. If you are interested, let me or Nancy know.

Closing Thoughts
Ann Voskamp's book, One Thousand Gifts, has blessed me beyond measure. Here are a few words from her book that encouraged me this morning.
Eucharisteo means "to give thanks," and give is a verb, something that we do.  God calls me to do thanks. To give the thanks away. That thanks-giving might literally become thanks-living. That our lives become the very blessings we have received.

The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring (Isaiah 58:10-11).

Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.
