Friday Memo 11/20/15
Student Professional Organizations
Yesterday we had a Meet & Greet at the Perk for the main campus students interested in participating in SMSTA/SASCD/KDP. Thanks to Ricki Roth and Nichole Dales for their work and leadership with this meeting. We had an excellent turnout with over thirty students in attendance. I am anxious to support the work of this group in the future. The first official meeting will be January 12th at 11:00am in FLD 308.

Mark Engelhardt and Emily Woodall, T/W SMSTA student, went to the MSTA state convention last week in Columbia. Thanks, Mark, for giving your students many opportunities for professional experiences.

Birthday Luncheon
We continued the celebration of Kathleen's birthday at Olive Garden. What a blessing to spend some time fellowshipping with friends.
Program Evaluation
Alicia Noddings and I met with Dr. Triplett, Dr. Dykstra, and a few division chairs to discuss the documentation of our program evaluations. If you are a director of a program in the education division, undergraduate and graduate, you will be hearing more from me and/or Alicia over the coming months about how we are evaluating the effectiveness of our programs and what improvements we have made based on data.
CACREP
Conversations are continuing about our pursuit of CACREP accreditation. At this time, the Counseling Licensure track will remain in the education division. We are beginning to analyze our curriculum to determine what changes need to be made prior to our application. Thanks to Mary Ann Conaway and Jeremy Ruckstaetter for the work they have been doing toward this extremely important accreditation.
CEEDAR State Leadership Team Meeting
Shelton Smith, Susan Hladky, and I are currently at a meeting in Jefferson City. We are discussing the Missouri initiatives and this afternoon will be working in our subcommittees - Policy and Educator Preparation. Susan Hladky is our university's team leader. We are working together to establish a plan for our university as we move forward helping our students have a clear understanding of multi-tiered systems of support. We are also looking at inclusive practices and positive behavior supports. We are having conversations with some local school districts to establish meaningful partnerships to give our students opportunities to observe excellent tier one instruction.
Spartan Preview Day
Thanks to Ellen John, Ricki Roth, and Nancy Sickler for representing the division this morning at the Spartan Preview Day. I have received communication that this was a record breaking event with over 200 students in attendance. Ricki noted that she spoke with over twenty students interested in pursuing education.

Recently some friends and I went to the movie, War Room. I highly recommend the movie as it was inspirational and reminded me of the power of prayer. The terrorist attacks that took place last week are incredibly tragic and have brought me to my knees asking for God's protection and wisdom as we navigate these new issues surrounding immigration. Please join me in prayer for the leaders of our country and our world as they attempt to tackle these difficult issues.
