They currently have several teachers who are new to the district that have graduated from our program. Mr. Keith Bausman, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, hosted a brunch to focus discussions on how we can partner together to attract new talent and how MBU can assist in strengthening their current mentorship programs for new educators.

Dr. Justin Cook, Counselor Education Assistant Professor, attended and took a couple of MBU students and an MBU student/employee to the ARAP (Arkansas Regional Adventure Programming) conference April 12-14, 2019 at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch in Jasper, Arkansas. It was an opportunity for counseling graduate students to learn more about Adventure Therapy, connect with others who have similar interests, and have a great experience in the outdoors.

The conference is based off of a curriculum for all outdoor educators, trip guides, people who love the outdoors, and students who are interested in Adventure Therapy.

The four presented on some pieces of adventure therapy dealing with risk management, enjoyed a great Dutch oven cook off, great sessions, and a really cool film festival of No Man’s Land.

Senior Walk & Chapel
On Thursday, April 18 we had the pleasure of watching our graduates walk from the SRC to the Chapel in all of their regalia (unfortunately in rain) and into the Chapel for their special day. It's always such a happy time to see their smiling faces and to celebrate with them. The service was filled with our education graduates: Kristianna Pirrie sang the alma mater, Sarah McDonnell and Kathryn Hinrichs were in the band, Ethan Metzler gave the closing prayer and Dr. Tom Smith spoke.

Marsha became part of the MBU family in 2000 as an adjunct and came on full-time in 2006 at the Franklin County Regional Learning Center. She was promoted to the Dean of the Franklin County Regional Learning Center in 2017. Marsha’s experience as an assistant superintendent gave her networking abilities that served MBU well. She was invaluable in setting up cohorts in the Franklin County area. Marsha’s dedication to her job, colleagues, and students was a testament to her work ethic. She will be greatly missed by all.
