Happy Friday! Syllabus Project As mentioned at the faculty meeting on Monday, we will be updating syllabi this summer to add alignment not only to course goals, but also to division, program, and institution goals. We will need everyone's help with this project. All Education syllabi currently contain alignment between course objectives and assessments; however, we will need to add an alignment table with division and program goals. Our office will be preloading course, division, and program standards into each master syllabus. We will need lead instructors to update each syllabus with these new alignment tables. In addition to aligning our standards and assessments, we will also be adding information into each syllabus regarding the amount of time students spend interacting with course material. This information will be loaded into a credit hour calculator to make sure our students are spending 45 clock hours per credit hour on course content. We will be meeting with all lead ...

It has been a busy week in the Education Division. See important information below. Doctorate Program We were busy interviewing new students interested in the K-12 and Higher Ed doctoral program. I am excited about the quality of the candidates we interviewed. Through the interview process I learned that one candidate's passion for students with special needs and her role in her school district makes her a valuable asset to the CEEDAR team. We even discussed ways she may be able to design her dissertation around the work of the CEEDAR group, giving this candidate an opportunity to make an impact on educator preparation on a state-wide level. I also noticed a post on my facebook stream advertising the new MBU Higher Ed doctoral program. I am encouraged that our marketing department is utilizing social media to get the word out about our programs. Faculty Meeting This week's faculty meeting was enjoyable for me. I value the time we spend together, and I truly value your opi...

I feel much more confident about the process after my conversation with Dr. Pope about the future of the Counseling program. Doctoral Program I have been enjoying working with doctoral students. I encourage all of you to let Heather Goodin if you are interested in serving on a doctoral committee. We are always in need of interested committee members willing to guide a doctoral student through the dissertation process. Ed.  Good Friday As I reflect on the sacrifice Jesus made for me, I am humbled, grateful, and reminded of the goodness of God. God is so good, all of the time. Even on that Friday centuries ago, He gave up His only son. The sacrifice still amazes me to this day. My youngest son, Dane, turns 11 years old today. His spring birthday sometimes falls on the Easter weekend, but this is the first time his birthday is on Good Friday. My love for Dane is so great and I can't imagine giving him up. Letting him die for the sake of others. That is what God did - He gave up his son for me! Hopefully, you will have some opportunities over the next few days to reflect on the love and sacrifice of God, the Father and Jesus, the Son! Here is an update of events from this past week... Doctoral Orientation Shelton Smith, Heather Goodin, Tim Delicath, David Collum, Marty Riggs, Judith Scott and I welcomed our newest cohort of doctoral students Saturday at the program orientation. I was rem...
