Faculty Evaluations I've completed all of the annual evaluations and have enjoyed getting to spend time with each full timer.  I appreciate all that you do as you serve our students. The most important thing we do for these students occurs in your class! Continue building strong relationships so they will be motivated to receive the information they need to be effective educators, counselors, and leaders! Student Evaluations We have recently learned that students in a few of our courses were not allowed the opportunity to complete student evaluations last fall. Moving forward, students will be completing course evaluations on all courses except field experience and student teaching courses. As we get closer to the end of each term, please remind your students to complete the course evaluation. RLC Meeting On Saturday the Mineral Area, Hillsboro and Arnold RLC adjuncts met. Amber Henry spoke to the group. Tammy Cox talked to the Education division adjuncts about master syllab...

Millennials in the Workplace During our faculty meeting last week, I asked the group to listen to the YouTube video by Simon Sinek entitled "Millennials in the Workplace." Click  here  to view the video again.  We had an interesting discussion during the meeting about how do we, as instructors, make sure our students are receiving the best instruction.  I found a follow up video of Simon sharing some more thoughts. I encourage you to take 9 minutes to listen.  You won't regret it! Click  here. Employee of the Month! Our very own Mandy Kehoe, Budget Coordinator for our department, has the honor of being the employee of the month.  She will be honored by the whole university at the next Birthday Celebration.  Mandy was nominated because she is always ready and willing to help - with a smile. She will enjoy a special parking place and the chance to become Employee of the Year. Field Experience Orientation On Tuesday, January 10 the Field Exp...

Happy New Year! The Spring Faculty Conference was held today.  We heard a moving devotional from Amy Brinkley, fascinating statistics about our freshman from Andy Chambers, and updates from Amber Henry, Amber Pyatt, Brenda Bradford, and me regarding new programs and accreditations. Here are some slides from Andy's presentation regarding ways in which faculty can help our students be successful. Please take a few minutes and review this information, especially if you were not here this morning. Tina Ketterer Today was Tina Ketterer's last day. We will miss Tina's contributions to the Counseling Program. She truly cared about students and was an amazing administrative assistant to Mary Ann Conaway. We are in the process of finding a replacement. Tina will be checking her email periodically during this time of transition, but please know that we are directing students to contact their course instructor and/or advisor for immediate assistance. Master Schedule Ch...

Education Division Christmas Party A good time was had by all at our Education Division Christmas party on Saturday, December 3.  We talked, ate, sang, ate, laughed, ate; basically, had lots of fun!  The ugly sweater contest first prize winner was Laura Rauscher's husband, Darrin and second prize went to Shelton Smith.  Jordan Cox and Alicia Noddings were gracious enough to share their amazing talent by playing the piano for us. It was perfect weather for sitting around the fire pit, if you wanted to wander outside.  Thanks to all who made the night a fun success! Reception at the Perk Mark Engelhardt and Kathleen Wendt attended the reception that was held in the Perk after the tree lighting ceremony. Here are a few fun pics: Kendall Cox Speaks to the Arnold Rotary Club Kendall Cox, daughter of Tammy, spoke to the Arnold Rotary about her upcoming trip to Germany and her participation in the Winter Intensive ...

Christmas in the Education Division Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is right around the corner.  Thanks to our student worker, Julie Sieber, who put up our tree and made our hallway festive! Accreditation Faculty Meeting On Tuesday, November 22 the faculty met to discuss our upcoming CAEP and CACREP accreditation visits.  The counseling faculty met together to work on new courses and the education faculty heard from David Collum and his experience at a CAEP site visit in Texas. We went over the list of data we have and where it can be found so we can be well prepared for our visit in February 2018. Lead Team Meeting I have so many ideas floating around in my head to make this division even better than it already is, so I invited a few of my  faculty to help me sort through these ideas and hopefully bring some of them (or all) to fruition.  Our first meeting was Monday and I'm excited for the future.  Stay tuned! Directors' Meeting The director...
